The Uganda Forestry Association (UFA) is a Non-Governmental Professional Organisation, which was established in 1985 to bring together individuals and community organisations interested in forestry. It aims at ensuring a sustainable forestry sector that is accorded its rightful role in contributing to the country’s environment protection and socio-economic development.
The mission is to contribute to the development of appropriate, efficient, and environmentally sound forest sector. And vision, Uganda with a "Dynamic, Sustainable and Economic Forestry Sector. Our goal is to ensure a sustainable forestry sector that is accorded its rightful role in contributing to the socio-economic development and environment protection through production of goods and services.
Objectives:
• To create and maintain public understanding of the value and vital role forests play in our daily lives;
• To promote forestry in improving agriculture productivity, provision of employment, contribution towards poverty alleviation and food security.
• To serve as an advocacy channel for forestry issues and networking with other professional organizations.
• To promote effective management, efficient production and sustainable utilization of Uganda’s forest resources;
• To create a forum for exchange of ideas among foresters and other interested parties;
• To establish and maintain contact between members and other stakeholders and establish a resource center for public information.
• To co-operate with Government and Non-government agencies in formulating and implementing forest policy and programmes.
